This morning I was transferring some commercial work over from my “hangin’-in-there” MacBook Pro, and I found one of my favorite NOT published frames from the editorial I shot for City Style and Living.
I love revisiting older files and folders and saying to myself, “there was TONS of gold in that shoot!”. It’s just a good feeling! Drewe looks great in this frame. Love it.

Just so you all know…. They’re best friends, and the humor that was surrounding the entrance of this yard was phenomenal; just so you all know…. ANYWAYS, got a chance to shoot some senior portraits today with a budding young photographer! This was right before they went to his banquet, lookin’ fly! All good amirite!?

Lunch from today! I was incredibly bored and wanted to photograph something that WAS NOT contract work or anything like that… So I drove to McDonalds, got one of their new salads, had a one light product studio setup at Cochrane Ranche on their stage/bandstand thing, and then ate the salad after I shot it. Definitely a good use of 2 hours.

This is for all you lighting nerds that dig on two channel light setups! This was the lighting used for the last post!

Summer 2012 Cocktail List: Kitsch Art

Cocktails designed by Colin Tait and Kai Green of The Calgary Bartender Association.
All cocktails prepared and styled by Kai Green.

My shots from Sunday evening’s Kidz Rock Campaign: Rock Star Babes. These will be printed into posters that will be for sale at the Calgary Beer Festival on Friday, May 4th!

Definitely out of the ordinary for me, however, I was asked if I was available… (even though I was shooting a HUGE commercial job beforehand, ON THE SAME DAY!!!)

Last weekend, I got my first taste of wedding photography for this season. I got to second-shoot with the extremely talented Nate Northridge at #NorthridgePhotography. This was an incredibly laid back wedding, which is very out of the ordinary for weddings. It was great. Here’s some of my favorite frames….

PS. I know my watermark doesn’t really work that much, but whatever, I hate watermarking anyways :P

Video I made for one of my clients.

So I went to Seattle. That place is awesome. Needing to go back. Plus, I’m sort of falling in love with The States. It’s a good place to be.

Anyways, these may look like film, which is definitely what I was going for 5 minutes ago when I was in post, however now, I feel like they’re still digital; entirely because they are! I shot mostly film while I was in The States, but unfortunately I’m poor and can’t afford to be a film photographer. Seriously, RPL and PPI are $$$! Plus, I don’t have a scanner!

*thinks to self - less lighting, more film - shakes head*

I’ll post some cool stuff soon, hopefully!

Did some testing with NUMA on Thursday. This is Gillian, and she’s fairly new to modelling. Although working with new models is a challenge, it’s also a interesting approach to figure out the rest of the shooting “workflow” as it were. My awesome team Mallory McGowan (Hair/MU) and a good friend of mine Tye Carson (Assistant) came and helped me created some pretty sweet images.

ALTERNATIVE TECHNIQUES, YES?! Good stuff! I got this new version of AlienSkin’s Exposure and there are a lot of very cool “film” techniques that most of the time look silly, but turned out well in this case.

For lighting, we did about 20 different setups, but notably was the one you’ll see at the bottom. It’s what we used to light the super distorted white shot. (no distressing, middle). Although, Tye and I broke a bunch of photographer/light rules and made some really cool stuff. One of which was two barebulbs on top/bottom of the camera w/flags. Totally strange, but gave us a verrrrrry cool type of beauty lighting.

Anyways, dig it!

Yesterday I met up with Leah. A girl I who used to model, went to school, and now that she’s done, naturally wants to get back into it.

She did an amazing job as you can see.

Shot out in Bearspaw, all natural light, 1.4!!!

So, this is what I had for lunch today…. Oh yeah, and the setup shot! Dig it?

Shot some testing for NUMA models here in Calgary today. Here’s a setup shot of some unconventional lighting that REALLY worked well for what we were shooting!I’ll post all of the shots when I get some time to edit them.
Cheers!
